Glossybox Review – May
I’ve been using all the items (apart from one) that I received in this month’s Glossybox so I figured it was about time for a review!
The only thing haven’t used so far is the Scrub Love scrub as I forget to take it to the bathroom with me when I go for a shower. I’m off out tonight though so might use it later today.
Let’s make a start with the things I have used then.
Ruby Blush
I wasn’t sure if I’d like this, it’s a bit orange for me as I’m a pink or a bronzer kind of girl. I was right in my gut feeling, it’s just not me. It’s too orange and just doesn’t match my skin tone, the colour is very vibrant for a blusher so I suppose it depends on what look suits you. I can’t seem to find this on Google so it kinda feels like a last minute addition to the box like “we need another product, oh look, a stash of cheap blusher! They’ll do.” It just reminds me a bit of a kids makeup set, in fact, I’m pretty sure my 10 year old has a matching one in a cheap makeup set she got for Christmas.
I think it’s safe to say, I’m not a fan.
Dr Pawpaw Balm
This is my new favourite thing and it has gone everywhere with me the last couple of weeks. I’m a fan of matte lipstick (as you will know if you’ve read my The One post) and in order to wear matte, you need super smooth lips otherwise cracks show. On the days where I don’t have a need for epic lips I am using this and it’s made such a difference. I haven’t had to scrub any mingy dry bits off my lips and I find some lip balms soften the skin too much which then makes it peel, I haven’t had that either so I’m well chuffed with this! It’s pretty much Vaseline in a tube but it has added ingredients which just makes it a little better. I’d definitely recommend it even at £5+ a tube. I only use the tiniest amount each application so I can see it lasting a while!
Sleek MakeUP Eye and Cheek Palette
This palette is made up of 2 blushers and 4 eyeshadow and comes with applicators and a mirror. I’ve seen a lot of people buying Sleek but this is my first experience with their products and I’ve got to admit, again, I’m not a fan. Looking at the palette, it should be perfect for me, the blusher are brown and pink and 2 of the eyeshadows almost match my everyday colours BUT… they’re so glittery! I don’t mean a little bit of shimmer, I mean full blown pieces of glitter. The colours are really muted and barely there, no matter how much I put on, which isn’t great anyway but all I could see was little square pieces of tin foil all over my cheeks and eyes. If ideas going out out then they might be ok but then I have a good highlighter and eyeshadows that have great shimmer, I’m 30 I don’t want to look like I’m going to a primary school disco, I might as well crack out the hair mascara too (remember that stuff!). Definitely not for me and I have now given this to my 10 year old and she loves it.
Unani Il-luminate Milk Cleanser
As I’ve said before, I have very sensitive skin and I don’t use any soap/cleansing products on my face normally. I literally use baby wipes to remove my makeup and that’s it. I figured a milk should be quite gentle and I’m so glad I started using this! I’m using it day and night and I have still had a couple of spots appear but not as many as normal. My skin looks and feels so soft now and it doesn’t feel like my face is on fire when I use it. I still feel a bit of a tingle but usually I want to put my face in a tub of ice cream to sooth the hellish burning sensation so anything is better than that. I’m really impressed with this product but I’ve only found it to buy on eBay, I just can’t find a UK stockist so I’m going to have to hunt out a different milk cleanser when this runs out.
I will use the scrub at some point (im going to go put it in the bathroom now) as it looks quite interesting so I’ll give it it’s own review soon.
Thanks for reading xx
