10 Unique Things About Me Challenge

I was tagged by Jen at The Frozen Mind to complete the 10 Unique Things About Me challenge.

Like Jen, I don’t know if I can think of 10 things that are unique about me. I really don’t think I’m that interesting but I’ll give it a go anyway.

10 Unique Things About Me

1. I have to have baked beans separate to other food.

I can’t have the bean juice touching anything else on my plate. The only exception to this rule is if I can make a chip barrier or beans on toast… But then I don’t put the beans on the toast, I have them next to it. I know I can’t be alone in this one!

2. I can’t touch dry sponges.

The thought of it literally sends chills up my spine and gives me goosebumps. There is no official name for this phobia but I’m sure it’s related to the texture rather than the holes like Google suggests. I also get funny with cheap wool and velour.

3. I have a broken spine.

I know I’m not unique with this one but I feel it makes me unique in some aspects. You can read more about what happened here. I have a fracture and then I also slip discs but I genuinely feel lucky that I’m still able to carry on with most daily tasks without too much fuss.

4. I have no special talents.

This may seem like a bit of an odd one to include but I really don’t. I can put my hand to most things but I have never been a master at anything. Most people I know seem to be really good at 1 particular thing, I’m just mediocre at everything!

5. I can’t eat bananas.

Again, this is a texture thing. They make me physically gag. The last time I tried eating one was about 15 years ago and I threw up.

6. I have tattoos.

These days having tattoos doesn’t make you unique but some of my tattoos are. They have been drawn up specifically for me and I either have the original drawing or they were drawn free-hand.

7. I LOVE cars.

For most people their car is just a tool for getting from A to B. My car is like another child for me. Since having the toddler I can’t spend as much time doing “car stuff” as I’d like. I used to spend hours cleaning my car and then going to meets but I just can’t with him being so small. When he’s a bit bigger I’ll get him involved in sure!
I have genuinely cried when my car’s have broken down or I’ve sold them.

8. I’m afraid of parrots.

Our local zoo used to do a parrot show when I was little. One day, after watching the show I was picked to feed the little chaffinches they had in a cage. I was quite happily holding a little bowl out with the little birds perched on the edge when they suddenly flew back in their cage. A huge macaw landed on my wrist and started helping itself to the contents of the bowl! A second one then decided to join in and landed on my other wrist. I froze and must of looked absolutely terrified as the keepers didn’t hang about in removing them.

9. I don’t read books.

I feel slightly ashamed to admit this one but I just don’t find the time. I also don’t think I have the concentration levels to sit and read any more. I am happy to read to the toddler but his books are really quick to get through!

10. It’s taken me 2 weeks to write this!

I have genuinely really struggled with coming up with 10 unique things about me! It’s a lot harder than you’d think. I’m just really not very unique, as much as I try to be!

I wonder if any of my other blogger friends will struggle as much! I’m going to tag:

Good Luck!!

Thank you Jen! I currently have a Toyota Yaris SR which is a 1.8 litre engine (amazing fun as it’s such a small car) or I use my other half’s Seat Leon which is modified 😁

I loved reading this haha I find the one about not touching dry sponges really interesting! I don’t read too many books either (I know shame on me haha)…and I do like cars and see them more than just getting from point A to point B but I’m by no means a real car enthusiast. I’m glad I got to know you better!!

Taking that photo was the hardest thing I’ve done today 😂 it’s unusual to get girls that like cars, though I am part of a few FB groups. Thank you for reading x

I’m so glad this isn’t just me! I have to make a potato barrier so would have to have hash browns or chips to block the juice lol x

I can relate to your love of cars! I’m a car girl as well and cried when I totaled my last car. I enjoy going to the junk yard, driving with no destination.. and everything about my car. I just had our third baby and my car can no longer be the “family” car so I don’t get to drive it as much and it kills me.

Oh no! Having our toddler killed our racecar dream! We were going to buy a little 2 seater and make it track worthy but then I fell pregnant lol.

  • Deborah

Well that was an interesting read – particularly with the things you don’t like touching 🙂
I hate scratching on chalk boards (at least when people did it at school) would drive me
crazy in side and get on my nerves 🙂
    Good post!

Well, I think you did great! I love your answers! I really liked you, you seem to be a nice person, where are you from? I’m from Brazil and married to American.
So, I have to ask, what kind of car do you have?

Aw thank you! I’m from Essex in England. I drive a Toyota Yaris 1.8 SR or my other halves Seat Leon ❤️

Wow! I can’t pinpoint mine, I haven’t attempted to eat them in about 17 years though! They’re just grim lol.

‘Mediocre’ people are the backbone of society. 🙂 (geddit, or did I go too far?).
Not really sure what to say about the fear of sponges. That’s a first.
